One day suddenly her eye started itching. As days passed by the itching started to increase. Due to the superstitious belief prevailed in the society that if anyone goes to hospital they will die, her parents feared from going to hospital. Instead they went to the shaman for treatment. When no improvement was seen they finally went to the hospital but it was already too late. The nerves of her eye had dried up and the doctors said that she was blind forever and there was no cure of the disease.
Yam Maya was married at the age of 23. Her husband could see properly. Since her husband was alone and had no family with mutual consent they decided to get married and spend their life together. She gave birth to two daughters and a son among which a daughter died earlier. After the birth of youngest daughter, he also started losing his eyesight. The tension of losing eyesight, family burden and pressure of running the family weakened him day by day and finally took him away from Yam Maya and her children leaving them alone to suffer.

They are now living in a single roomed hut having roof of leaves. Yam Maya’s only dream was to rebuild her hut into a 3 roomed house made up of stone and mud having tin roof. She decided to take a housing loan of Rs. 50,000. On 2072/11/08 a group of 32 people including the staffs of JBS and local people joined their hands together to build the house of Yam Maya. Under Complete Housing Program of JBS a latrine, solar light, drinking water tap was also set up in the house. Today Yam Maya is very glad to live in her own comfortable house. She thanks JBS and its staffs from the core of her heart for their generous effort because of which her dream came out to be true.
